Red's Eats

Just wanted to make a short post about Red's Eats.  It is a little tiny restaurant in Wiscasset, ME.  It has been operated since 1938 and in its present location and building since 1954.  It is known for their lobster rolls and fried clams, but they actually serve a lot of other things including all kinds of seafood, hamburgers, onion rings, etc.  It is open from mid-April until mid October, there is no inside seating and the line is often VERY long.  We had never heard of it until one trip in 2007 while we were in Wells, ME and saw it featured on Food Network.  We made the drive and were very impressed.  The lobster rolls are amazing and somewhat unique.  They are on the typical and only to be found in New England hot dog bun with the flat toasted sides filled with, as they say, the meat of more than one lobster each, and have no dressing.  You have a choice of either mayonnaise or melted butter on the side.  So since our campground in Boothbay is only 8 miles away we felt we were duty bound to take Karen over to Reds.  We were not disappointed!  We arrived at 1100am when they were to open and waited in line until we put in our order at noon.  We had a feast of lobster rolls, fried clams and onion rings!  Here are a few pictures.
