A difficult post, and a reminder

I have been debating whether to write this post or not and finally decided to do it as a reminder and a warning to those of you that have postponed doing something or going somewhere or participating in an special event for no good reason other than we'll do it soon, next week, next month, next year, or, or, or.  DO IT NOW!

You never know what may be waiting right around the next corner.  We have had something enter our lives that was totally unexpected, which will cause us to, at the very least, extend our stay here in Florida for several weeks to possibly several months. After an unusual exam on a regular annual physical, my family doctor ordered a PSA test which came back a bit too high, which prompted him to refer me to a urologist.  After another exam with him, he recommended a biopsy, and the rest is history.  You never expect to be the one sitting across from the doctor when he announces you have cancer.

After a battery of scans and tests, they believe it hasn't spread, and after discussing many treatment options, feel that removing my prostate will most likely offer the best prognosis.  I am scheduled for surgery in the near future and we are both hoping and praying this will end up just being a bump in the road.

Update

We decided some time ago that we would be looking for a new truck to replace our 5 year old, 95,000 miles on the odometer and much more towed, truck.  So we started our research before we returned to Florida.  We knew we wanted another Ram 1500 and this model year, 2019, introduced a newly designed truck with many, many, maybe too many, fancy features even to include parking itself, no we haven't tried that yet:-)  And after a very frustrating buying experience, why oh why can't buying a vehicle be easy, we ordered and recently received our new truck.

So now comes the fun of adding mud flaps, tonneau cover, base plate and wiring kit for towing.  More busy stuff!

A few weeks ago close friends Jack and Betty had their Hydro-Hot unit fail, it is a hydronic heating system that provides all their hot water and interior heat in their coach.  After I was unable to fix it, they decided the best thing to do was to just replace the unit with a brand new one for peace of mind.  And since I had the experience of replacing my similar unit a few years back I said I would find them a replacement unit and handle the removal and installation of the new one.  Actually I just spearheaded the project as good friend Harold spent as much time on it as I with extra help from, of course, the diesel mechanic, Jan.
Getting ready to pull the old one out

Working on getting the new one hooked up
Now by the time we got it in and hooked up, Jack and Betty had been without hot water for about 2 weeks.  So the new unit fired right up, heated the water, and promptly quit less than 4 hours later!!!  What the h%%l?  After much troubleshooting it was determined that the brand new control board was bad.  The manufacturers said they were sending a new one and after another 5 days went by, I called to see where in the world it was and was told, oops we sent the wrong part........  A few unkind things were uttered, oh yeah, by me, so they overnighted, should have done that in the first place, the correct part, and the next morning I installed the new board, and being gun-shy by now, waited through  several days of perfect operation to decree the project complete.
The offending board
So with the new truck, several unexpected projects for friends, and working on several of our own, enjoying a weeklong visit with Jan's sister Karen, having a very pleasant and unexpected visit from our son Jason and Joanne, we have been amazingly busy.
