Old Memories

They say you can never go back, and in a lot of ways it's true.  Jan and Karen are reliving memories of Indian Lake, and although most are good, there have been some surprises along the way.  The lake and the surroundings as as beautiful as remembered, but the cabins, houses, and town look different.  The original family cabin has been changed around and added to; the two houses, the brown house and the new house, have gotten smaller and moved closer to the road :-)  The town seems a little tired, in fact the only grocery store closed down a few years back.  The marina is still busy and the lake access campsites seem busy.  We've had mostly fantastic weather, just one rainy day.  It has been cool at night and we've had a couple of campfires, really enjoyable.

We lose Jo today, she has to fly back home to Louisville.  This was her first RV trip, and we hope she enjoyed herself, we sure enjoyed her company!
Beautiful Indian Lake
We rented a boat and sightseed around the lake on a gorgeous day.  We found the original cabin, that in Jan and Karen's opinion wasn't nearly the same, it had been added to and changed.

We ran up to the dam.

The lake is a natural lake that was increased in width by the dam in the 50's so timber could be handled easier by the lumber companies.
Jan wanted to take a hike up Baldface Mountain that she remembered doing with her father, and after a bit of searching we found the trailhead.  She scampered up the steep hill, and the rest of us bailed out, although Karen made a gallant effort on her bad knee.

Chilly, huh?
I had some things to do on the motorhome, so the three girls went over to the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake without me.  They had a good and interesting time.

So Karen is taking Jo to the airport in Albany, Jan and I will probably do a little more sightseeing and riding around, then tomorrow we are off for Vermont for a few days.
