Montana!

We arrived at Yellowstone's Edge RV Park on Sunday after 5 travel days.  Yes, we were ready to get here, we've been sitting a lot lately and while it was wonderful to be on the move, it kind of knocked the snot out of us:-)

First thing we found out was on the day we were leaving Northern Michigan to go over the Mackinac Bridge, Labor Day, to the "Yoop" the bridge was going to be closed for the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk from 0630am to noon.  We were thankful to find that out before we ended up sitting in traffic, so we adjusted our plans, left much later and had no issues going across on a beautiful day.

We spent the night at Manistique Lakeshore Campground, a beautiful park, all paved directly on Lake Michigan.

Then we pressed on 300 miles to Hayward, WI and a pretty nice park but very challenging with tree limbs and tight turns.  The next day was shorter to Onamia, MN near Mille Lacs to a new KOA.  We wanted a short day so we could jump in the truck and drive another 30 miles to Thielen Meats of Pierz, MN to buy some meat.  We learned of this market many years ago when Amy Thielen, a notable TV chef had a show on and would talk about it, it is her family that owns and runs it.

It's hard to see in this photo, the glare was so bad, but this is actually a sausage and meat vending machine that sits on the street just outside the shop, certainly a new one for us!

Then 30 miles back, fairly short night and back on the road again for 280 miles to Jamestown, ND.  A nice park and overnight with one big ding, it was accessed by driving over a mile on the roughest, dustiest, washboarded gravel road:-(

Then on into Montana proper to Miles City, MT, a long day, 375 miles to a KOA, a nice park.

That left us 300 more miles to where we are now, Yellowstone's Edge, a park with have been to many times before, right on the Yellowstone River and north of the park.  We have several projects here, including an excursion into Bozeman, and of course the park, then we will be moving on to Missoula and will meet Karen and Tom there for a few days, lots of fun!
