Settling In

We have been taking our time getting settled, visiting with friends, and cooking up a storm.  We tackled home made dumplings which turned out very good, and then made a go to, for us, French onion soup on a cool evening.

Lots of cocktail hours with great friends, Debbie and Harold, and enjoying pretty sunsets.

Ian took out over 100 hundred trees in our park, and they did such a good job of cleanup, it is hard to tell just where they were.  You definitely know things are different, but it is hard to visualize.  There are numerous signs of damage, including one park model that was totally destroyed by a falling tree, but all things considered, our park came out very well compared to what we see south of us.

Jan's been working on her puzzles now that we aren't moving.

And we are passing puzzles back and forth with our friend Ray, so I'm sure there will be plenty more to do in the future.

Jan has been wanting to recover the seat cushions on our couch and redo our dining chairs, so before we left in the spring she had arranged to have it done.  Unfortunately the back log of orders prevented completing it before this fall.  Jan had put down a deposit, picked out a material, and she gave them a call when we got back and was pleased to find they could do it right away and it only took 1 day!

Our good friend Harvey had moved out of the park, but came back to visit, nice to see you!
Harvey and our friend, Debbie

So night before last as we, Tom, Debbie and Harold, Jan and I are all sitting around for happy hour, and Tom asks if we knew water was running out of our coach?  What!!  Sure enough right under the AquaHot is an almost steady stream of water.  In the middle of happy hour, no less, so I open the case up and sure enough the fitting that plagued us before is pouring out water.  I try and try to tighten it and manage to get it reduced to a slow drip.  A first thing project for the next morning.

So in the morning I take the fitting apart and find the washer is so disintegrated I can't see how it held any water without leaking!
You can see from the calcification, this has been leaking for some time

There are actually 4 fittings in this area, all with the same washer, so I decide to replace all of them.

This is an example of one of the best ones

So like so many things, this simple project was trying, because no one had the washer, not the Ace hardware store, not the plumbing supply store, not the mobile home supply house, but finally the RV dealer found some.  Success!  So the running around took about 5 times as long as repairing the leak:-)

The elusive washer

All fixed!

We also temporarily mounted another black water tank sensor to evaluate another location to see if it will work better there.  We are still plagued with what we think is a very dirty black tank that is interfering with the readings on our monitor system.  We'll watch it for a couple weeks to see if this solves the issue or find that we need to find yet another location that will work.  This in fact is our third sensor, so this one better be the charm.

And just for grins I'll close this short post with some more food:-)  Jan made another sensational meal, Fragrant Beef and Basil Noodles.

So that's all for now.
