Finally!

January 26th was the first day of some warmth, it hit 70.  I know we complain a lot about the heat down here and we probably sound pretty fickle at times since we go to Florida to avoid winter, but this season was colder for longer in a row than we can remember in over 30 years or so of coming.  We even had into the low 30's numerous mornings!  But now it has broken and we are enjoying nice, 70's, low humidity for now with a warming trend, all good.

With the weather the way it had been, we haven't been doing too much, except for going out to lunch a lot, of course.  Found a few new good places and one not so good.  Jan started playing Mahjong again.  We've seen Karen and Tom quite a few times.  We had a great lunch and visit with Steve and Bobbie, and even though I reminded myself 10 times to get a picture, did I?..no:-(

Even though it was cold out, it was still pretty.

Jan made a delicious lamb stew on one of the cool evenings.

We found a really good Dim Sum restaurant, appropriately named Dim Sum Kitchen.  We were lucky to get there early as there were a lot of folks waiting for a table when we left.

Shrimp and pork shumai

Shrimp balls

Shanghai dumplings

Soup dumplings

We also went back to the Lobster Pound for a scallop basket, channeling New England:-)

Jan's been doing more puzzles.

We have some projects on the motorhome to do, replace the accumulator tank, get the coolant leak fixed, and we are working on getting some estimates to repaint some of the clear coat that is wearing off our poor 17 year old coach.  We did some of it a few years ago, but it needs some more work.  If we end up doing that it will mean another trip to the west coast.  We are doing initial work on our itinerary now.  But one thing we are sure of, the allure of Florida is wearing off.  Jan has never been very keen on it ever, but we both have to admit it's nice to escape the cold weather, but even with that we find that most of the time we'd rather be elsewhere.  We still have our doctors here and some friends and family and that's nice, but it seems the urge to go gets stronger and stronger, and earlier and earlier:-)  In fact we are cutting our stay here this year to 2 months only and in all likelihood we'll only reserve 2 months next year, at least initially.  More on this and other plans to follow.
