Back at our winter digs in Florida with a quick update
I left you in Charleston as we were leaving for Brunswick, GA on our way to Nokomis where we spend our winter. We stayed at a very nice campground, Coastal Georgia RV Resort, all paved, concrete sites, well manicured, but unfortunately very near the interstate so a bit noisy. It makes for a better overnight stop than a destination in our opinion, although we did find a killer seafood restaurant, Mr Shuck's Seafood, very casual but friendly and inviting and the shrimp were awesome! You order in one storefront and then go out and into the place next door that they have set up in a cozy and comfortable setting and they deliver your food to you.

We also took the rare opportunity to wash the coach and the truck, then we went to Florida Detroit Diesel/Allison in Ocala to get our transmission filters and fluid changed. We spent the night in their parking lot and they jumped right on us in the morning and we were off by 10am to the Florida Grande Motor Coach Resort in Webster. It is a condo park, where you can buy a lot, and improve it if you wish. It is very well done, huge concrete pads, large lots and the ability to add an outbuilding 12 X 32 finished on the inside the way you want, making for a consistency throughout the park. It is filled with friendly people and has many activities, the only downside for Jan and I was the fact it is out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of Florida, so unless you are really into flea markets, they have a huge one in Webster, there doesn't seem like much to do, even the closest grocery store is miles away, but it is a pleasant and welcoming place to stay.
Then we ran over to Brooksville to meet Chris from Talin RV to evaluate whether we should get Guardian Plates for our slide outs and measure for when we will need to get them. Unfortunately coaches built by Monaco have issues with water intrusion on the bottom edges of the slides. Chris' Guardian Plates totally encapsulate the corners preventing it from happening. After meeting with him we then went over to Lakeland to see Lester with Creative Coach to get an estimate to repair our broken for the third time wheel well.
Then down to RCR to check in for the the winter. What a wonderful welcome we received! It was so nice rejoining our winter family. We spent the entire next day getting our site set up, putting down 40 bags of mulch, making numerous trips to our storage unit, and almost have it done. Man, we are not used to that much work, we were both asleep by 9pm that night. So now we are settling in, visiting with friends, planning outings and activities, and just slowing down to enjoy our winter here.
So my posts will slow down now, I will have a recap of the year coming out in a few weeks, and we have lots of mostly little projects to accomplish while we are stationary that I will share with you in the upcoming months.
