So as I said we are nearing our departure from Florida and making ready to get on the road, doing little things here and there with no big projects hanging over us. Our son was here for a few weeks, and while I was out dumping the tanks sitting near the plumbing bay, Jason was in the shower. As I was contemplating life in general, it does take about 10-15 minutes to dump the tanks thoroughly, I think I hear a drip, drip, drip. I peer around to try and find it and sure enough water is dripping out of the wheel well, where it is not supposed to be! I try to look up in there with a flash light but I can't see exactly where it's coming from, but I can ascertain from where the water is, it has to be coming from the shower area.
And sure enough when Jason is done, the water stops. All I can think is it has to be a leak under the shower pan in the drain. So the diesel mechanic, Jan crawls down and shines the flash light under the pan and announces, "Oh yes, it's wet under here, but the drain is dry." Hmmm, must be from the supply side then, but funny it only leaks when the shower is being used.
So, behind a sliding door in our bedroom is an access panel to the shower mix valve.
Convenient access! |
I removed the offending parts and found that a plastic fitting had cracked and was causing the leak, so with a bit of a challenge getting the parts locally, we got it all fixed up with no more leaks.
The arrow shows where the leak was, and this shows it all fixed |
Had our second to last Tiki bar night with fewer and fewer people as they all filter home.
Good times and goodbyes |
